Well, it's been 6 weeks, 3 days, 10 hours and 32 minutes since Austin was put into a full body cast after breaking his right femur. Today was finally the day to have the cast removed. I...... I mean Austin, was soooooo excited! He was very brave and not really scared at all as they sawed through all the various pieces. He was laughing and smiling as they pulled the pieces off his left leg. Then, they started prying open the pieces off his right leg. I don't know if it just scared him or it really hurt but he started crying and yelling. He did not want them to take his cast off! He said, "don't take it, my leg is broken!!"
Finally, after a little more cutting to loosen it more, they pulled the remainder off his right leg, he was still crying his heart out. He cried and cried and spent the rest off the day insisting that his leg was still broken and he couldn't walk. Thank gooodness the x-rays showed otherwise and the doctor was quite confident that everything had healed perfectly. So, we spent the rest of the day carrying him around still. He was MUCH lighter though, I must say. LOL!
The next morning his sweet sister Elizabeth started "teaching" him to walk again, though he insisted he couldn't. Elizabeth was very patient and quite cute as she had him lifting one leg, then the other, taking one step and then another. Austin and Elizabeth have always had a special bond! By the time Tom got home from work he was there to greet him at the door. He will probably limp for a few weeks but he's getting better every minute!
YAY!!!! I am soo glad it is off and he is FIXED!!!! Look really cute Austin!:):)
