Japanese Tea Ceremony

At our homeschooling coop we have a wonderful Japanese teacher (sensei) who puts together the most amazing opportunities for us to learn things about the Japanese and Okinawan culture. Her name is Naomi and she is also a good friend! This week she asked some ladies to come and teach us about the Japanese tea ceremony. Alycia and Elizabeth wore their kimonos and drank green tea and ate little candies during the ceremony. During the 2nd ceremony Alycia was asked to help serve the tea to the others. She did a great job and looked so beautiful in her kimono!

The ladies also brought a display of dolls to show us in honor of Hina Matsuri or the Festival of Dolls which was on March 3rd. On this day families celebrate their daughters by displaying dolls made to look like the Emperor and Empress and their court. All the dolls in the display we saw were handmade by one of the ladies!
Make sure you see the videos below!!!
