Solar Elclipse July 22 2009

On July 22, 2009 the longest total eclipse of the 21st centuy passed over Asia. The only place the sun was completely eclipsed was on a few tiny islands between Okinawa and mainland Japan. Here in Okinawa we saw about 90% of the sun obscured during the peak of the eclipse. Being good homeschoolers (LOL!) we ordered our Eclipse Glasses, read up on the subject for days beforehand and trecked off with our friends to see what we could see.

We chose to go to the Katsuren Castle ruins to watch the eclipse becasue it's a pretty high vantage point and how often do you get to see an eclipse, let alone from Japanese Castle ruins? Yes, I can hear all of you saying, "what she really wanted was cool pictures!" OK, so you got me! I thought the photo op of a Solar Eclipse and a Japanese Castle would be AWESOME! And, it runs out I was right. So, enjoy my cool pictures and make sure if an eclipse comes your way to order your eclipse shades so you can enjoy this amazing event created by our AWESOME GOD!!
